Lola & Mauve What a rich and emotional atmosphere in Nick Fields music. Very touching. How poetic the words and the sounds ... with gently played instruments. I just love it and I'm looking forward to hear more from him. Love Mauve

Enigmatic Gaze This is the last time that I will see you. Our association has been pushed to the limit. The heavens are open, Rain beats on the roof You’re outside looking in as if somehow that’s proof. Yes I know that you need me against all your will, But framed in the window you give great movie still. Your perfected enigmatic gaze is on me, quite fixed. I could let you in but that would spoil it. There are some things you’d do well to remember, The world doesn’t stop at the glass of your mirror. I loved you yes, but don’t think that you own me, A fool mistakes macabre fascination for worship. I was taken with you from when we first met. Your beauty diverting, but then I observed, How you slid from vanity to blind panic, You narcissist crush over with a speed quite manic. And your sumptuous eyes searched wildly for a saviour, I gladly stepped in not for perfection, but for failure. See, I have a little thing for gorgeousness flawed, And was drawn to your compulsion to be adored. There are some things you’d do well to remember, The world doesn’t stop at the glass of your mirror. I loved you yes, but don’t think that you own me, A fool mistakes macabre fascination for worship. And I know that you did, you fool, you fool. And I let you think it, so cruel, so cruel. The plump of your lip and the curve of your back, The knot of your finger, the flick of your eyelash. A dazzling spell, a gossamer veil, Now lifted it’s over, so goodbye farewell. This is the last time that I will see you. Our association has been pushed to the limit. The heavens are open, Rain beats on the roof You’re outside looking in as if somehow that’s proof.

Luminous Nothing Take it to the street, the night’s fettered heat. The street is where you find release, Keep moving, keep working The night has become your genre, You are your own sculpture, always showing Carve yourself out again with each step Heels hit pavement with such precision But tonight is not the same, tonight is different She is so luminous nothing Makes herself so Hides under luminous nothing, Cannot let go Tonight your hair is red, polished apple red Cat-flick eyes, make-up-fake-up, it’s applied Powder and booze, just enough, just enough Show your people all your love, all your love Kick up your heels and dance on tables Run the chase like childhood fables. Dead-eyed touch up in smeared mirrors Breathe now, the porceline is wearing fragile She is so luminous nothing Makes herself so Hides under luminous nothing, Cannot let go Splinter and crack, she can’t hold it back The tears in her eyes, will all but subside The tangle within, the walls are so thin The broken veneer, looks shocked in the mirror She is so luminous nothing Makes herself so Hides under luminous nothing, Has to let go

Poison and Bile (spoken) Nightshade eye, foxglove breath Hemlock Heart, Larkspur blood Moonseed veins, Monkshood hands Hensbane legs, Snakeroot skin Taste it on your tongue, it glistens on your teeth Leave behind shuddering grief It arches in your smile, lays down at your feet When you go it might be somewhat a relief But first tell me something Tell me something of yourself Something unspun Something not created First tell me something Tell me something that rings true Give me hope there’s substance Give me something to think on something to devour Poison and Bile Your timing is vile Play me with style Just stay for a while Poison and Bile I trust in denial I’ll reconcile Just stay for a while Poison, Poison Poison, Poison But first tell me something tell me something of yourself Something unspun Something not created It arches in your smile, lays down at your feet When you go it might be somewhat a relief

Weightlessness Let’s fly, let’s fly high above the city. The dark is cover enough not to be seen. We’ll navigate by the traffic streaming below. There’s no stars tonight, The streets will radiate orange glow. We can no longer hide in the crowd, But we can take to the skies, our only way out. We’ll twist and turn, maybe smile again. Soar in slipstream Over where we saw our dreams end. Weightlessness is an addiction too The air is cold and cracks your lips But in the ascent we can escape Weightlessness, I won’t let go of you The dark sky is dangerous But in the ascent we can forget. They’ll never stop hunting, we’ll never be safe, Too many close calls now, too many close shaves. But we can leave behind every bad thing that we’ve done. Burn away the shadows As we face tommorows breaking sun At altitude there’s no judgement No glances of pity and disdain There’s nothing but elements And suspended belief No disappointment, no blame Weightlessness is an addiction too The air is cold and cracks your lips But in the ascent we can escape Weightlessness, I won’t let go of you The dark sky is dangerous But in the ascent we can forget. We’ll twist and turn, maybe smile again. Soar in slipstream Over where we saw our dreams end.

about

The debut EP from Nick Field. These songs tell of love gone wrong, fractured selves and supernatural Bonnie and Clyde’s.

Feral Twin is a souped up lullaby served with arsenic, a dark folktale for those who did stray from the forest path. A collection of beautiful, filmic, luscious songs with the folk harp at the centre of the arrangements and an artfully placed lyrical barb. 'Feral Twin' is Nick's debut EP.
